Pão de Açúcar

Pão de Açúcar (Sugar Loaf) is a hill that overlooks the center of Rio de Janeiro. You can climb to top of the hill, taking one of the two cablecar reaching it. The first cable port at the top of the hill of Urca and from there, the second one takes you to the tip of the Pao de Acucar, where you can enjoy a spectacular view of Rio de Janeiro.
The cablecar of the Pao de Acucar was designed in 1908 by a brazilian engineer Augusto Ferreira Ramos and was inaugurated in 1912. The teleferico first installed in Brazil and third worldwide, is one of the most important icons of tourism carioca and has become the 'trademark' of the city of Rio de Janeiro. This is a cablecar made of glass, called by the Brazilians "bondinho". If you're an athlete, you can also climb the mountain! When you get on top of the hill you can get over having a snack in one of the many kiosks and bars.
This hill rises about 400 feet above the center of Rio de Janeiro and from there you can admire the view of Guanabara Bay, from the beach of Botafogo in the north of the city to the beach of Copacabana in the south.
Since it was launched it has already carried more than 31 million tourists. In the months of high season, the influx of tourists reaches to three thousand people a day. The entrance is in Avenida Pasteur, 520.

Pão de Açúcar (Pan di Zucchero) è una collina che sovrasta il centro di Rio de Janeiro. Si può salire in cima al colle prendendo una delle due teleferiche che lo raggiungono. La prima teleferica porta alla cima della collina di Urca e, da lì, la seconda ti porta alla punta del Pan di Zucchero, da dove si può godere di una spettacolare vista su Rio de Janeiro.
La teleferica del Pan di Zucchero è stata progettata nel 1908 dall'ingegnere brasiliano Augusto Ferreira Ramos ed è stata inaugurata nel 1912. Primo teleferico installato in Brasil e terzo in tutto il mondo, è una delle più importante icone del turismo carioca ed è diventato il ‘marchio registrato’ della città Rio de Janeiro. Si tratta di una teleferica in vetro, chiamata dai brasiliani "bondinho". Se sei uno sportivo, puoi anche scalare il monte! Quando arrivi in cima ti puoi ritemprare in uno dei numerosi chioschi e bar.
Questa collina si innalza per circa 400 metri sul centro di Rio de Janeiro e da qui si può ammirare il panorama della Baia di Guanabara, dalla spiaggia di Botafogo a nord della città fino alla spiaggia di Copacabana nel sud.
Da quando è stato inaugurato ad oggi ha già trasportato più di 31 milioni di turisti. Nei mesi dell’alta stagione l’afflusso di turisti arriva a tre mila persone al giorno. L’ingresso si trova nell’Avenida Pasteur, 520.
