Parque Lage

The park was created from sugar engenho Del Rei which stood on the banks of the lagoon. In 1926, the 174 thousand square meters of gardens have been restored by Leonam Pena de Azevedo, that respected the original design of John Tyndale. The surrounding area has 348 square meters of native forest of the Atlantic Forest, on the slopes of Corcovado. We made the School of Visual Arts, which has a library and an auditorium with a capacity of 150 people.

Il parco è nato da zucchero Engenho Del Rei che sorgeva sulle rive della laguna. Nel 1809, l'azienda è stata acquistata da un nobile inglese che contratta landscaper Giovanni Tyndale di riforma del parco.
