At the end of Avenida Pasteur we see the quiet General Tibúrcio Square constructed in 1935, where there was a fortress before. The square with barstools and gardens is a meeting point for visitors. In the center of square there is a mausoleum under of the huge statue- a tribute to heroes of Laguna and Dourados, but few people know it.The square is almost surrounded by military buildings, such as IME - Military Institute of Engineering (one of the best in the country), the ECEME (School of Command Staff of the Army), the Naval School and a residential building for the military.
To reach the Praia Vermelha just go across the Square. On the right side of the beach, is located the Clube Militar da Praia Vermelha with a good and cheap restaurant. The right of the square, the cable car station from where start to reach the Sugar Loaf and on the left the track Claudio Coutinho

Alla fine di Avenida Pasteur vediamo la tranquilla Piazza General Tibúrcio costruita nel 1935, dove prima c'era una fortezza. La piazza con sgabelli e giardini è un punto di incontro per i visitatori. Nel centro della piazza c'è un mausoleo sotto l'enorme statua. Un omaggio agli eroi della Laguna e Dourados, ma poche persone lo sanno.
La piazza è circondata di edifici militari, come l'IME - Istituto di Ingegneria Militare (uno dei migliori del paese), l'ECEME (Scuola di Stato Maggiore del Comando dell'Esercito), la Scuola Navale e un edificio residenziale per i militari.
Per raggiungere la spiaggia (Praia Vermelha) basta che attraversi la piazza. Sul lato destro della spiaggia, si trova il Clube Militar da Praia Vermelha con un buon e poco costoso ristorante. Sulla destra della piazza, la funivia, da dove si parte per raggiungere il Pan di Zucchero e sulla sinistra la pista Claudio Coutinho.
