Palácio Guanabara

A construction of the nineteenth century, was the residence of Princess Isabel. After the proclamation of the Republic of Brazil was named Guanabara Palace and became a symbol of neoclassical and eclectic. It was seat of the Prefecture of Rio, when Rio de Janeiro was the capital. Today is the seat of the government of the State of Rio de Janeiro.

Praça General Tibúrcio

At the end of Avenida Pasteur we see the quiet General Tibúrcio Square constructed in 1935, where there was a fortress before. The square with barstools and gardens is a meeting point for visitors. In the center of square there is a mausoleum under of the huge statue- a tribute to heroes of Laguna and Dourados, but few people know it.
The square is almost surrounded by military buildings, such as IME - Military Institute of Engineering (one of the best in the country), the ECEME (School of Command Staff of the Army), the Naval School and a residential building for the military.
To reach the Praia Vermelha just go across the Square. On the right side of the beach, is located the Clube Militar da Praia Vermelha with a good and cheap restaurant. The right of the square, the cable car station from where start to reach the Sugar Loaf and on the left the track Claudio Coutinho

Alla fine di Avenida Pasteur vediamo la tranquilla Piazza General Tibúrcio costruita nel 1935, dove prima c'era una fortezza. La piazza con sgabelli e giardini è un punto di incontro per i visitatori. Nel centro della piazza c'è un mausoleo sotto l'enorme statua. Un omaggio agli eroi della Laguna e Dourados, ma poche persone lo sanno.
La piazza è circondata di edifici militari, come l'IME - Istituto di Ingegneria Militare (uno dei migliori del paese), l'ECEME (Scuola di Stato Maggiore del Comando dell'Esercito), la Scuola Navale e un edificio residenziale per i militari.
Per raggiungere la spiaggia (Praia Vermelha) basta che attraversi la piazza. Sul lato destro della spiaggia, si trova il Clube Militar da Praia Vermelha con un buon e poco costoso ristorante. Sulla destra della piazza, la funivia, da dove si parte per raggiungere il Pan di Zucchero e sulla sinistra la pista Claudio Coutinho.

Museu Aerospacial

Installed no Campo dos Afonsos, which is the cradle of Brazilian aviation, the Aerospace Museum occupies a covered area of 16,000 m2 and houses a valuable collection for the history of Brazilian aviation and global levels. There are about 1000 objects cataloged the major pioneers of aviation and the oldest aircraft, 14-bis and Demoiselle, air and collections of weapons, uniforms and paintings.
Arranged along the building, hangar 5 shows more than 80 aircraft, including planes from World War I and II, the first military jet and the famous P-47 Thunderbolt.

Installato no Campo dos Afonsos, che è la culla della aviazione brasiliana, il Museo Aerospaziale occupa una superficie coperta di 16.000 m2 e ospita una preziosa collezione per la storia del trasporto aereo brasiliano e mondiale. Ci sono circa 1000 gli oggetti catalogati i principali pionieri del trasporto aereo e il più antico degli aeromobili, il 14-bis e Demoiselle, aria e collezioni di armi, uniformi e dipinti.
